The last one was written in 2005, and became harder and harder to maintain and change, so I've just rewritten, updated and significantly streamlined this whole mess! HERE SHE BE.

Subject to change without notice. Be sure to check back here directly before you commission me, and not just with the assumption that the prices are the same as they were four months ago.

Please read everything if you would like to commission me!

Commissions!

You've seen me make enough happy watercolors of one thing and want to see me paint something else? Something a bit more you-flavored? Read on!

Prices are in US Dollars. Paintings are done on heavy weight paper that takes to watercolor well, is pH balanced, and should not fade or yellow with proper care (out of direct sunlight and behind glass is the safest method of display and storage). Commissions are not done for dA Points or any other virtual currency, sorry! I'm open to working with you, so if you have a budget and would like to see what I could do for a certain amount, let me know, and we'll see what we can come up with.

Prices can vary depending on the size and subject of what you'd like done, but the starting ground, assuming a 8.5" X 11" to 9" X 12" size format of a single character/subject, with a simple or minimal background is $65 USD. Increase in size, number of subjects, complexity, etc., increases price. There's an addition of $20 for every extra full-size character/subject in the image. Two characters takes you to $85, three to $105 etc.

*The only exception to this is that there is a $15 'tolerating fangirls' fee for any image of David Tennant or any character portrayed by him. No, I'm not joking.*

If you'd like a more specific ballpark than the figures here, or you have an idea that involves a complicated background or something else not covered here, send me a note with some details of what you were thinking and I can give you more of a personalized quote. It doesn't obligate you in any way to buy a painting from me, worry not!

I've been known to give discounts for orders for multiple images.

You can have a very concrete idea, or just a vague one - I work well with just with general feelings and concepts ("I'd like a happy picture of these two people, who have personalities like xyz") as well as I work with specific ideas, ("This girl and this guy playing hopscotch in Paris!"). I want to make images that make both of us happy, so if you'd like to toss around ideas, don't be shy!

It makes things much shinier for the both of us if you have reference photos at hand for the subjects you'd like me to paint, especially if I am unfamiliar with them. The more photos, the better!

I'll send you a few sketches as we get your idea off the ground, so you have a say in the final image and can change things before we commit to ink. These are often digital even if the final piece is not. Generally, there are three sketch revisions before I begin to suspect you are wasting my time and I will charge for the extra time if requests for sketch revisions become excessive.

I work traditionally and digitally, your image can be either! Time taken varies with subject matter (quicker for subjects I've done before, slower for unfamiliar or complicated images), but average turnaround is three weeks for the whole process from proposal to finished image, longer if you opt for physical delivery. Let me know as soon as possible, ideally in your initial proposal, if you will need your image by a certain date, so I can be sure you get it in time, or if I am able to do it at all.

You can opt for digital delivery or a physical one with traditional art. You, the buyer, pay shipping for physical delivery - we'll calculate it with post codes and all that fun stuff. Digital delivery gives you a high quality, large (300+ dpi) resolution image in your inbox, minus the lovely watermark and shrinkage it will get when I post it publicly.

Payment through Paypal, check or money order, and covers my time and materials, not characters involved. Standard procedure. I do not ship or e-mail high-res images until payment is confirmed and complete. This can take several days with Paypal and check cashing, so please be patient.

I will not do sexually explicit art or anything promoting any kind of hate or intolerance, be it on a character or societal level. Nudity and suggestive images are doable, I'm just not your porn machine and will not go beyond a certain threshold. I reserve the right to turn projects down based upon content objections.

I retain rights to the image and to have it in my portfolio I also have the right to make prints of the image for sale. Print making and selling is reserved for images made from my characters, or fanart of popular franchises that can be sold at conventions. Your characters are safe from print-making. Characters portrayed will obviously remain the property of the people who own them, be they you, me, your friend Jessica, the BBC, or Naoko Takeuchi. You have the right as the commissioner to use the image for icons, layouts, illustrations for your fanfic and for personal enjoyment printed and framed on your wall or whatever. Credit in the digital scenarios is polite as well as greatly appreciated! You don't have the right to reproduce the work and sell prints, or use it to sell anything else, however. That right lies solely with me. If this is not something you can agree to, then you should not commission me.

Please e-mail me (ladyyatexel @ gmail dot com) or send me a note on dA or a PM on LiveJournal or a forum we have in common with talks of commissions. I don't want to conduct business in public nor in an impermanent location like comments or IMs. This way we have a concrete trail of who promised how much and by when and neither of us is ripped off or dishonest. :)

If you're cool with all that, then let's make some art together!
